Classification Of Goods And Services Under The Indian Trademarks Act

The Registrar of Trademarks published on 29th November 2013 an exhaustive alphabetical list of goods and services, several of which are indigenous to India. Applicants intending to file applications for registration of trademarks for goods and services are advised to adopt the names of goods and services corresponding to those given in the published classification only. In case the names of goods and services are different, the examiners of trademarks may insist that the names be altered to the names appearing in the classification. Following this rule will greatly assist applicants and trademark attorneys to expedite obtaining registration.
